Enameling
consists in coating the tile "biscuit" with several
different layers of enamel, following processes and proportions
that vary depending on the desired finish - color, shiny or
satin, evenly colored or subtly shaded, cloudy or combed, etc.
After enameling, the tiles are then, as
the case ay be, decorated. This step is always done by hand
with brushes, with oxides and enamels.
Then the tiles are once again baked in the oven,
for a second period, the length and temperature of which vary
depending on the desired finished color.
Enamels are extremely sensitive to proportions,
length and temperature of baking. |
